The entire Mentawai surf industry were represented at this historic meeting. The Mentawai BUPATI (Regency Head) announced and explained the thinking behind PERDA No16, 2002 and three other new surf taxes were also clarified.

1. Tax on Resorts, Restaurants and Hotels (10%)

2. Tax on all licensed Charter Boats (Rp 20 million p.a.)

3. Tax on all surfers - Rp 30,000 per person per day
